1. Best Book You Read In 2012? (You can break it down by genre if you want)
How am I supposed to pick one?? I’m going to veer from the question a bit.
Adult fiction: Degrees of Wrong by Anna Scarlett ~~Thankfully a sequel is coming!
Contemporary YA: Collision by: Stefne Miller ~~I cried big fat baby tears!!
Dystopian YA: Wither by: Lauren DeStefano
Sci-fi/supernatural/paranormal-ish (big lumping together): The Goddess Test by: Aimée Carter, Of Poseidon by: Anna Banks, Sweet Evil by: Wendy Higgins,
Fantasy: Shadow and Bone by: Leigh Bardugo
2. Book You Were Excited About & Thought You Were Going To Love More But Didn’t?
Black City by Elizabeth Richards , I really thought this book was going to awesome, but it turned out it wasn’t for me. I would encourage others to look into it though. It seems to be hit and miss with people.
3. Most surprising (in a good way!) book of 2012?
Demons at Deadnight by: A&E Kirk, I loved this novel. It took me by surprise, because I stumbled upon it and the bought it on the spur of a moment decision and I finished it within the day. It’s one of the self-published gems!
4. Book you recommended to people most in 2012?
Poison Study by: Maria V. Snyder!! I read it over three years ago, but the storyline still follows me! I even named my iphone after the main guy lead Valek! If you love a good fantasy or are in the mood to try one. I wholeheartedly recommend it!
5. Best series you discovered in 2012?
The Tiger Saga by Colleen Houck! I started Tiger’s Curse, and it all just picked up and I got addicted! So addicted that in a month I had read the first three AND been sent an ARC of the fourth! The series starts with Tiger’s Curse.
6. Favorite new authors you discovered in 2012?
Sarah J Maas! I ADORE HER!!! What she did with all the prequels before her Throne of Glass series started was brilliant. Not to mention the whole thing was originally published online and then retransformed into what it now is!! I think if I ever met her in person I might just freeze up! I’d have to take DJ with me.
Leigh Bardugo: she is such a sweet person. Not to mention really fun to talk to!! Then she made me fall in love with the Darkling! She’s a genius!
Anna Banks/Anna Scarlett: With writing that is clever and witty and a personality that will make you want to hang out with her for days I am hooked! I’ll read anything she writes EVER!
7. Best book that was out of your comfort zone or was a new genre for you?
A Thousand Splendid Suns by: Khaled Hosseini – I didn’t enjoy the Kite Runner. This book isn’t a sequel. It’s more of a companion to what females experience in Afghanistan. It’s deeply moving and my jaw hit the floor more than once. The novel changed my perspective and gave me a look of what life is like under the burka. It should be required reading in all high schools.
8. Most thrilling, unputdownable book in 2012?
Deity by: Jennifer L. Armentrout – I’m addicted to this series and with this latest installment it just deepened that. I want to see the best in characters and some of them turned on me and I was DEVASTATED!!!! But you know it’s all good!
9. Book You Read In 2012 That You Are Most Likely To Re-Read Next Year:
One Flew Over The Cuckoos Nest by: Ken Kesey – Mr. Kesey was part of LSD experiments the government started to record the effects on the human mind. Which brought forth this novel which he wrote. It brings forth and questions what should be considered Sane and the definition of sanity. The whole psych ward is a microcosm for the everyday world. There are funny moments and ones that make you really think. Also there are times which are just pure insanity.
10. Favorite cover of a book you read in 2012?
I love the smoky wisps coming from the dress and the color is striking. And it all sort of frames a great quote! Work it girl!! While the novel itself didn’t blow me away. It was unique and fitting of the cover.
11. Most memorable character in 2012?
Mo Fitzgerald from the Torn Trilogy by: Erica O’Rourke. I love this character. I read the first book last year and finished up with the last two this year. I’m terribly sad that this series ended. It mixed the gangster world of Chicago with the secret magical society of the Arc’s.
12. Most beautifully written book read in 2012?
Touch of Power by: Maria V. Snyder - I read it New Years DAY! The mixture of fighting for yourself yet preparing to lay your life on the line at a seconds notice to heal someone else really struck me. Not to mention as always with Maria V. Snyder’s writing a whole new fantasy world was spun. I was sucked into it and have waited all year for book two release!!
13. Book that had the greatest impact on you in 2012?
Sweet Evil by: Wendy Higgins – The novel is raw and gritty and doesn’t shy away from the truth. I feel like I have waited YEARS for an author to finally get it this right when capturing the world of a teenager. No one has ever just put out everything and then continued to explore it. Not to mention I can completely relate with the main character Anna. Can’t wait for more of Wendy’s writing.
14. Book you can’t believe you waited UNTIL 2012 to finally read?
The Goddess Test by: Aimée Carter - Brilliant no book has ever just tricked me like this one!
15. Favorite Passage/Quote From A Book You Read In 2012?
“I could always give you a teaser. You bookish people love teasers, don’t you?”
? Jennifer L. Armentrout, Onyx
“You used nunchucks on a moose?”
Wolfe got a haunted look in his eyes. “I used all sorts of things on that bastard.”
? Richelle Mead, The Golden Lily
“This is the ultimate bad-boy date, isn’t it? Breaking into a different country.”
“Hey, it makes a change from hot-wiring cars together.”
16.Shortest & Longest Book You Read In 2012?
Longest — Angel Fire by: L.A. Weatherly with 636 pages. The book was actually fast paced. It slowed in the middle, but that was necessary to add details to the plot at key points. The books are all action so I didn’t mind the page count.
Shortest — The Awakening by: Kate Chopin with 116 pages. I really wasn’t a huge fan of this novel. It was short and lacked details and emotion which makes some sense since it’s set in the victorian period when people are stuffy. The ending was pointless and whoever said it would be good for me to read it was wrong.
17. Book That Had A Scene In It That Had You Reeling And Dying To Talk To Somebody About It? (a WTF moment, an epic revelation, a steamy kiss, etc. etc.) Be careful of spoilers!
Collision by: Stefne Miller! I don’t read much contemporary fiction anymore… it all started getting boring. BUT this one had me reeling. From the tender moments that lead to the ending scene!! I remember having tears streaming down my face and having to re-read a scene to make sure it really happened. I’ve never read a book like this one before and I loved it.
18. Favorite Relationship From A Book You Read In 2012 (be it romantic, friendship, etc).
I really like the evolving relationship between Claire and Myrnin in the Morganville Vampires series. In the 11th book Last Breath by Rachel Caine. I know they only have a friendship right now, but it’s always hinted at that there could be more. Also I like how Myrnin is the one that’s physically stronger but yet Claire is always taking care of him. There are these small moments when everything else fades and you have to step back and really think about their relationship.
19. Favorite Book You Read in 2012 From An Author You Read Previously
The Golden Lily by: Richelle Mead – I think I like aspects of this spinoff more than Vampire Academy. I really like sydney, because she’s so relatable to me. I also love the witty moments Adrian shares.
20. Best Book You Read That You Read Based SOLELY On A Recommendation From Somebody Else:
Theres also a bunch of other books I’ve read this year solely because DJ @DJ’s Life In Fiction told me too! He never lets me down!

3. Best event that you participated in (author signings, festivals, virtual events, memes, etc.)?
It’s a hard pick! From the Romantic Time Convention to Leah Clifford’s InsaniTEA party I had a hard time picking! But I went with BEA! My trip this year surpassed last years!
There’s BEA where Tirzah learned just how strange I am. I flew there and roomed with her this year. Want to know some of the strange things I say? Tirzah and I decided it would be funny to keep track so she wrote down things I said that were hilarious in a notebook she kept, because she kept forgetting them and wrote a post with me! View that HERE! Also theres a part two with more stuff… I forgot how out of it I was! I said some crazy things! Read part two HERE!

I didn’t find anything new that I can remember but i did learn how to access all the features of my kindle app on my iPad. Does that count?
7. Did you complete any reading challenges or goals that you had set for yourself at the beginning of this year?
I read over 100 books, I was worried because I knew with college coming I wouldn’t have a lot of time. I did manage to pick it up at the beginning of the year so by the start of school I had nothing to worry about.
I did the Debut Author Challenge for the third year in a row and found a nice new group of authors I can fangirl!
1. One Book You Didn’t Get To In 2012 But Will Be Your Number 1 Priority in 2013?
Darkness Shows The Stars by: Diana Peterfruend– I desperately wanted this book in 2012. I haven’t even had the chance to buy it yet!! I really need to read it!!
2. Book You Are Most Anticipating For 2013?
3. One Thing You Hope To Accomplish Or Do In Your Reading/Blogging In 2013?
I’d like to finish making everything nice from my blogger to wordpress switch. I’d also like re find my passion for blogging. I have lost it in the last year. I just get sort of overwhelmed. Since my three year blogoversary is coming up. I’d like to fall in love again and do those posts where when I’m writing them I can hardly stand myself I’m so excited to share new bookish news.
When I read a good book I get excited like a little kid again….. I’m on the left ;p
